Standard Bank re-affirms its support for Cricket

by isleofman.com 16th May 2014

The Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA) is to be sponsored by Standard Bank for the 19th year.

As the 2014 cricket season gets underway, the bank has reaffirmed its relationship with island cricket and will again be headline sponsors for The Standard Bank Premiership, the Championship, the Twenty/20 leagues, the Knockout Challenge Trophy, the Tinker Cup, the Blincoe Cup and the six-a-side competition. There will also be a continuation of the ‘Player of the Month’ initiative which recognises outstanding individuals each month.

Neill Angus, Chairman of the IOMCA said the sustained support is invaluable: ‘Standard Bank’s continued sponsorship  means that we are not only able to facilitate this season, but are able to plan and ensure club cricket is well placed for the future. Over the years we have used the sponsorship funds for improving the grounds and providing much needed equipment. In addition we have been able to provide coaching courses which are vital for us to build on the existing talent pool in the Isle of Man.’

John Coyle, CEO of Standard Bank Isle of Man, said:  “We are pleased to again be supporting the IOMCA for 2014. Helping provide opportunity in local sport and investing in talent at a club level is critical to ensure we have a strong cricketing community in the island. The work that the IOMCA do in nurturing talent and encouraging new players is invaluable for the sport. We look forward to a long summer of excellent local cricket.’
