Island golfer Tom Gandy produced a superb performance in Ireland, tying for second place in the Irish Open Amateur Golf Championship.
From a top quality field, the Rowany player produced rounds of 71, 71, 78 and 71 for a four round total of 290 and a joint second place finish in an event which carries world amateur ranking points.
The winner on a four round total of 288, which is level par, was Jamie Savage, whilst Tom – a Tower Insurance Scholarship recipient – finished two shots adrift, along with three other players.
Tom now moves to Formby and Southport and Ainsdale where he will join his Island team-mates as they contest further World Amateur ranking competitions with two 36 hole events this weekend.
