A charity set up following the death of a talented local girl has been chosen as Nationwide International’s charity of the year.
Twenty-one year old dancer Naseem Pishvaie died in 2009 after battling an invasive and rapidly growing brain tumour for three years.
A former Ballakermeen High School student, her legacy Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity aims to direct brain tumour sufferers towards information, provide them with financial assistance, and support national research.
Seamus Byrne, head of sales and marketing for Nationwide International said: "This charity does a fantastic job offering support and advice to Isle of Man families affected by brain tumours, and we are delighted to help in any we can to raise funds to support them."
He said staff at Nationwide International's St Georges Street offices have donated considerable amounts to local charities over a number of years and are renowned for their participation in events, for their generosity and success.
Naseem's mother Geri Pishvaie said "Leading up to our 5th anniversary, it's lovely that Nationwide International has recognised the charity in what is a very special year for us."
