During the Easter holidays one our keenest and most promising mini members travelled to the UK to try his hand at some of the many tournaments that are available. Jayden Go (9), an Albany Mini member, played at six different venues in the Midlands area and produced some good results.
These were all 9U orange ball events - In the West Midlands he reached the semi-finals. In the Mosely Euroclay Championships he won the event beating Ivan Reath in a very close match 7-5,8-6. Then on to Leamington for another grade 4 competition 9U with some good results beating Robin Harper in the qtr final 9-11,7-2, 7-4, the semi-final he beat Zach Cale 2-7,7- 2,7-3, then in the final Jayden beat Morgan Lang 7-9, 7-5, 7-4. After winning in Leamington he played at CURC Tennis Club in Derbyshire with scores of 7-1, 7-3 (qtr/f), s/final 7-3, 7-1 and in the final he beat Chantal Griffiths 7-4 7-3. So far so good – three titles but there were still more matches to play, this time at the Charnwood Tennis Club, Leics., where he lost 5-7,6-7 in the qtrs. but went on to win the consolation event. Finally to the David Lloyd Club, Nottingham where he won two more matches. In all a total of 27 matches played won 22 in 8 days. A very determined effort by a 9yr old. Well done Jayden.
