Ramsey Men's Darts

Wayne Harrison gained some revenge against his nemesis Geoff Howland by beating Geoff in the final of the masters competition on presentation night.

The league was finished and all we had left to sort out was the bragging rights for over the summer as we held a new competition on Friday 2nd May before we had our presentation night.

To qualify for this comp you had to finish in the top 16 or our singles stats so the competition was of a very high standard which was confirmed in our very first result. As the result sheet came back it registered a fine 3-0 victory to Geoff Howland over Dan Callow with 2 x 15 dart legs. Alan Young won the battle of not only the Douglas boys but team mates as he overcame a great game from Andy Evans 3-2. Wayne Harrison cruised past Mac MacDonald 3-0. Andy Hudgeon and Jamie Kelly winning their first round games by the same scoreline against Roy Dunlop and Tye Jones respectively. Stevie Waters won a 5 legger against Charlie Cormode to set up a last 8 battle against team mate Paul Palmer who pulls off the first of our mini shocks as he takes out number 5 seed Gazza Uren 3-2. The final game of the first round saw another mini shock as number 11 seed Marty Long beat 6 seed Alan Kinrade in a final leg decider.

First game up was Alan Young against Wayne Harrison but it was big Wayne who proved just too strong for Alan winning this one 3-1. Stevie Waters beat fellow Swan man Paul Palmer 3-0 to make it into yet another semi final this year. Geoff was up against friend and pairs partner Hudgie and with yet another 15 dart leg booked his 7th semi final place of the season with a 3-0 victory. The final semi final spot was booked by Jamie Kelly after a titanic battle with Marty Long which is great to see the old rocker finally showing what we all know he is capable of but lost out 3-1 meaning 3 of our top 4 seeds were in the semi finals.

First semi final was the all Swan affair and although big Wayne saw off Stevie 3-0 the game was alot closer than the scoreline reflects. Indeed Wayne missed double 18 for a 10 darter. The second semi was an all Plough match up between their A and B top hot shots Geoff and Jamie respectively.

Jamie grabbed a leg off the star of the season but Geoff booked the spot with a 3-1 win.

The final was the only game different as in it was over 7 legs not 5 . Wayne opened up a lead with the first leg, back came Geoff with a great leg of darts to make it 1-1 , Wayne went even better with 12 darter to open up the lead to 2-1 . He came back again with yet another leg of less than 16 darts and made it 2-2.

All legs went with darts but not in leg 5 as it was Geoffs turn to take the lead as he took the darts off Wayne and turned around to shake hands with the big man to which he met with "sorry it's the best of 7 not 5".

Wayne cruised through leg 6 to level it up as Geoff showed that his mistake obviously got to him with a poor leg of darts by his standards.

So we got down to a decider, Geoff had darts at a double to take the title but missed and Wayne stepped in to take the title of 2014 Ramsey mens darts league master.
