by isleofman.com 3rd May 2014
The battle to win the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup is hotting up.
Peel triumphed in the battle of the Combination champions in Saturday’s quarter-finals with a 6-0 home victory over Combination Two winners Gymns.
Jordan Lee, Jack Smith (two), Jonathan Griffiths, Sam Chapman and an own goal set up a visit to holders Corinthians.
They were 8-2 winners at Douglas Athletic.
Goals from Phil Kelly (two), Robert Bentley (two), Stuart Smith, Jamie Stoy and player-managers David Bignall and Matthew Palmer saw them through.
Liam Dawson netted both for Athletic.
Old Boys underlined their hopes with a 4-1 victory over Combination One runners-up St Mary’s.
Matty Quilliam, Dean France (two) and a Robbie Ward penalty meant Stuart Pacey’s reply for the Saints was just a consolation.
They will now meet Rushen who had Ross Mulligan to thank for seeing off battling Marown.
He scored either side of a Neil Withers penalty to fire the southerners to a 2-1 success at Crosby.
