Former minister defends health service tenure

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2014
Former minister David Anderson says he knew there were problems at Noble's Hospital when he was in charge of the health service - but tight budgets meant he couldn't fix them.

Mr Anderson has given his reaction to the external review of three key areas at the hospital, which highlighted serious shortcomings.

In a report published earlier this month, the West Midlands Quality Review Service found that across the board, the under-performing departments met just 47 per cent of required standards.

Staff shortages, lack of medical lead in critical care and poor management of trauma cases were among the team's concerns.

It all happened on Mr Anderson's 'watch' - so should he have taken a much closer interest in the running of Noble's? Clip 1
