Pedal power boost as Peel Road cycle lanes open

by isleofman.com 20th April 2014
Motorists using Peel Road in Douglas are being urged to respect new dedicated cycle lanes, the first in the Island on a main road.
The lanes have been added as part of the major upgrade of the heavily-used route in and out of Douglas.
After months of roadworks and hold-ups, a smooth tarmac road has at last appeared, with new markings and cycle lanes painted green where they cross junctions and drives.
The Isle of Man branch of Friends of the Earth campaigned for a cycleway to be included in the road scheme.
The group's Phil Corlett, who cycles to work every day, trialled the lanes between Quarterbridge and Circular Road.
He's given the scheme the thumbs-up:Clip 1
