A Ramsey company has emerged as the latest investor in the project to establish an ICT university in the Isle of Man.
David and Alison Dorricott of AFD Software have pledged ?1 million towards the development of an International Centre for Technology at the Nunnery near Douglas.
The body behind the venture the Manx Educational Foundation has to raise a total of 12.5 million in order to purchase and develop the site.
The AFD contribution takes the total raised from investors in the project to ?7 million. In Tywnald this month Education Minister Tim Crookall confirmed another ?2m had been raised through a loan from social enterprise institution CAF Bank.
The university venture aims to provide Island businesses with highly skilled ICT professionals, attracting students from on and off-Island.
The MEF has an agreement with government to buy the Nunnery and a deadline to raise the remaining ?3.5 million has recently been extended until the end of June.
David Dorricott says he's confident his firm's contribution will assist the Island's business community long-term:
