Treasure Trove Inquests

by isleofman.com 16th April 2014
Three Treasure Trove inquests are due to take place at Douglas Courthouse this afternoon in front of Coroner of Inquests John Needham.
By law, someone who uncovers items believed to be treasure, has to report the find to the coroner and an inquiry will determine whether the objects should belong to the crown, or whether the finder has the right to keep them.
The inquests are believed to relate to Viking and medieval finds on the Island, including a gold ring and a seal, some of which have already been on display at the Manx Museum.
