Minimum standards for child day care services are being revised for the first time in over 10 years, with the emphasis on getting parents involved in the process.
The Department of Health and Social Care says parents whose children use services that include full day care, sessional day care, creches and out of school care are best placed to comment on the quality of care and suggest ways for improvement.
Parents and child day care providers are being encouraged to take part in the creation of new standards.
The department states: 'The new standards will provide clear information to child day care providers on what is required of them. The standards will also be of interest to parents as the care standards provide clear descriptions of what they can expect for their children when they attend day care services on the Island.'
People have until 5pm on Friday April 25 to comment on the proposed standards which can be found at www.gov.im/ConsultationDetail.gov?id=426
