Hospice Isle of Man can confirm that local charity ADRA (Manx registered charity number 1101) is currently collecting door-to-door on the Island for its children’s hospice Rebecca House. This collection started on Sunday 30th March and will continue until Sunday 20th April 2014.
The collectors are all local members of The Isle of Man Seventh Day Adventist Church. Part of ADRA collections are ploughed towards international relief, and assists poor people in third world countries – this year’s beneficiary African countries being Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Burkina Faso. An article was published in the Manx Independent of 27th March 2014 – see attached copy fully outlining what was happening with this collection.
The Isle of Man Constabulary have given full permission for this type of fundraising and ADRA has been collecting on the Island for at least 10 years, and is a Manx registered charity. We appreciate all donations to Rebecca House and to people that decide to give to ADRA to support the provision of clean water, support schools and for people to alleviate poverty in Africa.
As Hospice has issued a statement outlining that the charity will be using ?1 million of their reserves during 2014 to continue their services and we were delighted that ADRA, a group from the Manx church community, decided to raise funds for their local children’s hospice.
Every year on the Isle of Man there are numerous door-to-door collections. Naturally we appreciate this is donor choice and apologise if some residents on the Isle of Man have been offended by this type of fundraising but as Rebecca House looks after just under 30 children on the Island the funds raised by this collection are very much appreciated. Rebecca House services cost just over ?500,000 each year.
We have now issued all collectors with a leaflet on Rebecca House which residents may find useful. To find out more about ADRA please visit

Thank you in anticipation of any donations.
