Concert to mark 150th anniversary of Knox's birth

The 150th anniversary of Archibald Knox's birth has been marked with a special evening of music and talks.
A commemoration service at St German's cathedral in Peel (9 April) attracted many admirers of the artist, teacher and designer, whose contribution to the decorative arts was only recognised after his death - and is now acclaimed worldwide.
Last night's event included a tribute from the Archibald Knox Society, which has done much to promote the work and profile of the Manx-born pioneer of the arts and crafts movement.
Lieutenant governor Adam Wood gave an address to a packed congregation while Culture Vannin's Charles Guard hosted the evening.
Mr Guard said it was fortuitous to be able to celebrate the landmark anniversary during the year-long Island of Culture:
