Learn a new skill at charity’s Crafternoon Tea workshops this Sunday

by isleofman.com 9th April 2014

If you want to learn a new skill – and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea – then The Children’s Centre has just the thing for you this weekend. A ‘Crafternoon Tea’ event is being held at the charity’s Community Farm on Sunday April 13 offering a chance to get some expert tips in bread making and felt craft workshops. Chrissy Cannell, Community Farm Team Leader, said:

“We have some extremely talented and skillful craft experts on the Island, and our Crafternoon Tea will be an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in trying out a craft for the first time to get some expert guidance. There will be bread craft with Georgie Revill, and felt craft with Annie Eastham with both workshops taking place in the relaxing and beautiful surroundings of our Community Farm. The event will run from 12.30pm to 5pm so everyone will have ample time to tour the farm, see the animals, and learn about all of the projects which are taking place during the year.”

The Community Farm is based at Wallberry Farm on the Carnane Estate off the Old Castletown Road in Douglas. Anyone wishing to attend the Crafternoon Tea needs to pre-book – tickets are ?20 which includes a delicious afternoon tea and all of the craft materials required. Children are welcome to attend, but the craft workshops are more suited to over 16s. Car parking is available at the Community Farm.

All funds raised go towards The Children’s Centre’s charitable projects Mobex, Out2Play, Child Contact Centre, Community Development and the Community Farm, which do great work for families and children in communities across the Island. For more information – or to book your place at the Crafternoon Tea – email Susie Cox at susiecox@thechildrenscentre.org.im or call 676076. The Community Farm will be playing host to more craft workshops during the summer, details will be posted on www.thechildrenscentre.org.im when dates for the events are confirmed.
