Twenty-four Manx charities will benefit from a significant donation made by Zurich’s Staff Charity Fund.

The international life company, based on Athol Street in Douglas, has given ?20,000 to them in order to help support the valuable work they do in the local community. The shortlist of charities was compiled following a consultation with the company’s 220 Isle of Man based staff, and includes:

• Hospice Isle of Man
• Manx Cancer Help
• Macmillan Isle of Man
• Wish Upon A Dream
• Manx Stroke Foundation
• Oskar’s Dreams
• Women’s Aid
• Remember Me
• Guide Dogs for the Blind
• MS Society
• Manx Miracles
• Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation
• Isle of Man Live at Home Scheme
• Manx Blind Welfare
• DASH
• The Pets Aid League
• Richie’s Charity
• Manx Breast Cancer Support Group
• Mann Cat Sanctuary
• Onchan School Association
• Manx Gateway
• Friends of Foxdale
• Onchan Entertainers
• Kenyon Youth Club

Every year Zurich makes a commitment to support the Manx community, and has a long-standing history of making significant charitable donations to local good causes since it was established on the Island 32 years ago. The 24 charities received their cheques at a recent reception hosted by Zurich International Life’s CEO, Clive Baker, at Salt Bar and Restaurant in Douglas.
Clive commented: “As well as being very honoured to support the work of so many Manx organisations, it was fantastic to meet so many of the volunteers who work for these charities and learn more about the valuable work they do here on the Island across a wide variety of sectors. Zurich is a very community-focused company and a proud employer of more than 200 local staff, and it’s inevitable that many of them will have been touched personally in some way by these charities. Being able to give something back to the Manx community is very important to us, and I know our donation really will make a big difference.”
