Caren Pegg (nee Hyde), Head of Appleby’s Isle of Man Employment team, is to be the guest speaker at the next Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Isle of Man branch event. The seminar, titled “The Equality Bill 2013 – What might lie in store?”, is sponsored by Appleby and takes place on 8th April at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas and is open to ICSA members and guests.
Caren specialises in employment law. She has extensive experience in dealing with both non-contentious and contentious matters, including redundancy, employment issues related to mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, unfair dismissal, sex discrimination and contracts of employment. Her clients range from leading global and local corporate entities to high net worth individuals. She also has experience in dealing work permit and immigration issues and also regarding the employment aspects of shipping law, including crew contracts. Caren has been actively involved in liaising with the Isle of Man Government as part of the consultation process for all the new employment legislation that has been enacted in the last decade. This year Caren has been elected as chair of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Employment and Training Committee which specifically looks at forthcoming employment legislation and government initiatives concerning commerce. She joined Appleby in 2001 and qualified as an Isle of Man advocate in 2003.
