The Dining Car puts on its Sunday best

Sunday lunch is always a special occasion when it’s on the Steam Railway’s Dining Car.
 
And the Dining Car starts a busy season of Sunday lunches and afternoon tea services started yesterday (23rd March). Contact the booking clerk on 697457 or email steamdining@gov.im to reserve your seats.
 
The Manxman Sunday lunch trains will initially depart Douglas at 1pm to Castletown, returning by 2.30pm. On the menu is a Manx Sunday roast of the day, fish and vegetarian options. Tickets are ?30 per person including food and train travel, no concessions.
 
During the early and late season, the Dining Car will put on its Sunday best with traditional afternoon teas served in the elegant Dining Car carriages. Teas, including a selection of sandwiches, cakes and cream scones, are ?25 per adult or ?60 for a family ticket for two adults and two children 15 years and under.Tea trains depart Douglas at 3pm to Castletown and return by 4.30pm.
 
Manxman Sunday lunches and afternoon tea trains will operate on:
6th and 20th April, 4th and 11th May, 15th and 22nd June and 14th and 28th September.
 
When steam train services increase during the peak season (timetable S), Manxman Sunday lunches will be offered from both Douglas and Port Erin with Dining Car trains departing Douglas at 12.50pm and departing Port Erin at 2.35pm. Passengers can travel the return journey in the train’s saloon carriages.
 
Manxman Sunday lunches from Douglas and Port Erin will be served on:
25 May, 8 June, 6 and 20 July and 3, 10 and 24 August.
 
The Dining Car will also be serving Mothering Sunday lunches and teas on March 30. The lunch service is already fully booked although seats are still available on this date for the afternoon tea service.
 
Early booking is advised on all Dining Car services to avoid disappointment.
