by isleofman.com 21st March 2014

Kevin O’Loughlin, an advocate based in the corporate and commercial department of Simcocks, has joined the board of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Isle of Man) Limited.

STEP is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues. Full members are often the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field and members advise clients on the broad business of the management of personal finance.

Chairman of the Isle of Man Branch Paul Hotchkiss said: “Having someone with Kevin’s experience and technical knowledge is welcome addition to the board and I am sure he will contribute significantly to the board and our efforts to promote STEP and enhance what we provide to members locally.”

Kevin has been recommended for his expertise in trust law by the independent directory, The Legal 500, which report that he “gives practical and clear advice” and he “has the ability to think outside the box”. Researchers from Chambers and Partners say he is “clinical in his attention to detail and never leaves you waiting for a response”.

Kevin said: "STEP Isle of Man plays a significant role in supporting the fiduciary industry. Through its programme of seminars, presentations and qualifications members are able to strengthen and develop their knowledge through a combination of technical knowledge and practical experience. I am looking forward to being involved and helping to develop its success further.”
