Last Wednesday morning a variety of people from the Island’s business community gathered to attend the first seminar hosted by local PR and strategic marketing agency, Ashgrove Marketing. Held at the Claremont hotel, the seminar saw Ashgrove’s team of experts discuss the latest digital marketing developments and explain how to keep ahead in 2014.
The morning began with tea and coffee and the opportunity for attendees to meet the Ashgrove team, before presentations began. The seminar was designed to provide a relaxed environment in which to inform and update local business people on the latest marketing technologies for 2014 via quick and easy presentations. Amongst those who said a few words was Ashgrove’s Managing Director, Terry Van Rhyn, who touched on the exciting nature of the marketing industry at present and introduced the speakers - Graeme Brooks, James Dodge and Simon Jennings.
Graeme kicked off the morning’s presentations by addressing the topic of Prezi and the Death of PowerPoint, in which he explained new software that is set to overtake PowerPoint as a presentation application. James followed with his presentation on Mobile devices and Apps, stating the need to ensure that companies create an optimised presence in today’s mobile Internet. Other topics discussed included Inbound Marketing and SEO, New Affordable Email Platforms, and Why Google+ matters. The event closed with a brief question and answer session which provided attendees the opportunity to quiz Ashgrove’s team on the topics discussed.
Terry Van Rhyn commented on the success of the event. “The event was particularly effective in getting the word out about new and emerging marketing technologies, and why they should be a part of every business’s marketing strategy for 2014. It is all useful knowledge to have, and we were very pleased with the number of people that attended. I’d like to thank the team for all their hard work in putting the seminar together.”
