by isleofman.com 17th March 2014

The head of the Private Clients, Intermediaries and International business at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management will visit the Isle of Man to address a gala dinner which will raise money for a local charity.

Shaun Phillips, who is responsible for the UK and offshore jurisdictions including the Isle of Man, will speak about organisational cultural change, Barclays’ values, including Citizenship and community investment, as well as the company’s future strategy during the Barclays Wealth and Investment Management event on 20th March. The dinner will be attended by clients, leading local business figures and members of the Isle of Man Government, and funds raised during the evening will be donated to The Children’s Centre.

The Children’s Centre, which was a Barclays Wealth and Investment Management nominated ‘Charity of the Year’ in 2013 in the Isle of Man, will give a presentation on how it has benefited from that support.

Steve Clarke, Barclays Wealth and Investment Management Director of Offshore and Local Markets, Isle of Man, said: “We are delighted to welcome Shaun to the Island.

”The focus of his address will be the importance of Citizenship, which is central to the way Barclays works. We are committed to playing an active role in our communities, and Shaun will explain the thinking behind this approach and the benefits for employees too.”

Mr Phillips started his banking career with the National Westminster Bank, undertaking a number of front-line and regional banking roles including working at the Group Head Office and a spell at the Group Training Centre. In 2000, he moved offshore to run a number of businesses for RBS International and joined Barclays over six years ago.
