Minister welcomes report on Kirk Michael land exchange

by isleofman.com 10th March 2014
Ayre MHK Eddie Teare has welcomed a second Tynwald report on the Kirk Michael School land exchange agreed when he was Minister for Education.

The Select Committee report due to be debated at the March sitting of Tynwald, was requested following allegations about the deal made by Mr Charles ‘Buster’ Lewin.

Mr Teare commented: ‘The main recommendation of the report is quite clear – that Tynwald should no longer give any credence to any proposition made by Mr Lewin.  The Committee has confirmed that its earlier conclusions in relation to the agreement are unaffected by anything Mr Lewin has said, and they stand by them.

‘The report confirms that I acted correctly, and the deal which I negotiated was better than the one previously envisaged.  I am pleased with the result and feel that my actions have been fully vindicated.  My thanks for to the Committee and I hope that the matter is now closed.’
