The former Isle of Man Prison Site on the Victoria Road, Douglas has been cleared for a number of years and the Isle of Man Government has been considering what uses may be suitable on the site in the future.
 
To assist and guide future development a draft development brief has been prepared which sets out the basic guidelines for any development proposals to consider.
 
This draft development brief has been issued for a 6 week consultation period to let all those who have an interest in the future of this key site to submit their views. 
 
Announcing the start of the consultation, Minister David Cretney stated:

“This is an important initial step in securing the redevelopment of a key Douglas site.  We look forward to hearing from all those with an interest in the future of this site”.

Alternatively, copies can be viewed or obtained from the Planning Office, Murray House, Mount Havelock, Douglas.

The Department welcomes representations from anyone who wishes to comment on the proposed development brief, either using the online survey, contained within the consultation page, or for those who do not have access to the internet, comments can be submitted to the address given below. Submissions should be marked clearly ‘Consultation on Draft Development Brief for the former Victoria Road prison site’.
