Chamber welcomes Budget's help for manufacturing

The Chamber of Commerce has welcomed new funding for a dedicated engineering training centre, announced in yesterday's budget.
The Island business organisation says the ?1m earmarked for the new facility at Hills Meadow in Douglas will provide a stream of future apprentices for local manufacturing firms.
A skills shortage has been a concern for the sector, currently reporting significant growth in the Island.
Chamber chief executive Jane Dellar says the extension of the National Insurance holiday for employers until next April is also very welcome, while the five year election for a tax cap brings 'certainty and reassurance' of the scheme's continuation.
But she says real cuts must be demonstrated in the cost of running government.
Director at KPMG in the Island Greg Jones has echoed the view in his response to the Budget.
Government restructuring measures have so far saved more than ?4m but Mr Jones says it's a tiny percentage of the overall spend:
