Thornton Associates celebrates move to Athol Street

by isleofman.com 30th January 2014
Last Wednesday evening, colleagues from Thornton Associates gathered with some 75 friends and clients to celebrate their recent office move from Media House in Cronkbourne to their new premises on Athol Street. Guests enjoyed after work drinks and canapes while touring the company’s new offices.

Amongst those who said a few words on the night were Geoff Karran MBE, Sharon Sutton of Thornton Associates, and David Rothburn of Quilter Cheviot Investment Management. David introduced Sharon, praising the team at Thornton Associates for their commitment to the industry. “Sharon and the team at Thornton Associates are well deserving of their success, and I would like to congratulate them on their recent expansion and move to larger offices.”

Sharon introduced the team at Thornton Associates, and made particular reference to the newest member, Julie Owen, who recently joined as a Chartered Financial Planner. Sharon remarked: “There have been a lot of changes at Thornton Associates over the last couple of years; changes which have included new staff, new business prospects, and the expansion into this new office. We are very proud of all the hard work that has gone into getting where we are today. I would like to thank the Thornton Associates team and clients for their contribution to the success of the business.”

Sharon continued: “Thornton’s working relationship with Quilter Cheviot allows us to focus on the client side of the business and provide the very best service we can for our clients. The decision to outsource our investment management to such teams has been pivotal to the overall success of the company.”

Geoff Karran MBE, who has known Sharon and the Thornton Associates team for some time also addressed the guests, drawing particular attention to both Sharon and Julian (Sutton)’s  involvement in Manx sports. He remarked: “When Julian joined the team at Thornton Associates, he was a champion golfer on the Island, and a qualified dentist who quickly converted into a financial planner and is now qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning. Sharon’s involvement in cycling on the Island can be likened to her work ethos, in that it is her dedication to the training stages of progression that has led her to her proficiency in the sport. Similarly, the way in which she runs her business; having grown from a home office, to larger premises and the expansion of her team are the progressive stages that have led her to creating such a successful enterprise through the years. I would like to congratulate Thornton Associates on this most recent expansion and their ongoing well-deserved success.”
