Infrastructure Minister David Cretney has welcomed the continuation of hospital patient transfers to Liverpool by Flybe but says a reduced service to Birmingham is 'disappointing'.
Flybe has confirmed it will operate three daily services between the Isle of Man and Liverpool, which means Manx patients will be able to continue to use the lifeline service when requiring treatment in the UK.
In November, Flybe announced it would close its Isle of Man base, with the loss of 50 jobs, along with five other bases in a bid to make savings of ?85million.
In total, the airline will be operating 57 flights a week from the Island, including routes to Manchester and Birmingham.
Mr Cretney said: 'I am pleased that they are continuing to serve both north west destinations. The one disappointing aspect is that Birmingham will be less well served that it is presently.'
Meanwhile, British Airways is to increase its London City flights from March 30. The new schedule will see flights increase from one to three a day each week day, one flight on Saturdays and two on Sundays.
