Two local men have been recognised in the New Year's Honours List.

Mark Shimmin has been awarded an MBE for services to the Government and economy and Michael Kewley has been awarded a British Empire Medal for his services to local Government and the community.

Mark Shimmin retired in April this year after a career of 30 years within the Civil Service.

Michael Kewley retired from his role as Clerk to the Port Erin Commissioner in February of this year after over 40 years.
