Remember 1992? John Major was Prime Minister, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games, football’s Premier League was launched and Webtech began trading; its founders John Webster and Mark Mann, plus most of the staff, have remained involved with the Company since inception.
Webtech, well-known for its software, has now merged with Intelligence Limited, a company specialising in project management, software design and the effective use of IT in business. The combined companies will in future trade as Webtech, a respected name associated with delivering value for over 20 years.
Two current developments illustrate the nature of the products and services offered by Webtech. Government’s Manx BioMed Conference, sponsored by Webtech, is being used to showcase three BioMed applications written by Webtech specifically for the sector; the analysis of live blood images which enable the diagnosis of various medical conditions; software for measuring body composition; applications developed to manage the mass of data generated by wide-ranging medical research conducted in Russia to test the validity of new medical techniques.
FATCA is the second topical development in which Webtech is involved. FATCA is the latest monitoring and reporting requirement imposed on financial institutions, is causing considerable concern in the Isle of Man. Working with Government and financial institutions, Webtech is working to provide business and software solutions which reduce the costs and difficulties of complying with FATCA. Webtech’s Genesis software, used by banks, insurance companies, ship managers and others for over 20 years, combined with Webtech’s reporting system, provides the answer to the FATCA question. Webtech’s reporting module has universal appeal as it operates irrespective of software applications used by reporting entities.
The Webtech board combines a range of diverse but complementary skills; Paul Carpenter, Finance Director, will add depth to the Company by bringing his understanding of the changing needs of clients in the business world in addition to his experience of producing timely and practical financial and management information. Paul ensures Webtech provides “what customers really need rather than what IT technicians think they should have”.
Chris Davies, Chief Executive of the newly combined companies, said “After working with Intelligence for over ten years I am really pleased to take up the role of CEO of this re-vitalised team which combines the strengths of two market-leading IT companies. We now offer a range of products all aimed specifically at delivering cost-savings and increasing revenue generation for our customers, or improving the speed, accuracy and ease of regulatory compliance and reporting.”
Mark Mann, Webtech’s Technical Director, expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to concentrate on developing innovative software while Chris and Paul ensure Webtech’s efficient operation and good governance. Mark said “Webtech’s staff have been with us for a minimum of 15 years; I am extremely proud of them and am sure they will thrive and develop further as they assimilate the complementary skills brought by the staff of Intelligence. Naturally, having worked with him for over 20 years, I am delighted that John Webster has agreed to be involved as Chairman; already we have established a clear strategy that takes account of developments in the World economy. The Board’s philosophy is to ensure that our clients and staff are always treated with respect, and that our products and services make our staff proud and exceed our customers’ needs ensuring they receive good value for money”.
