Studying for Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications on Island could be a possibility

by isleofman.com 26th November 2013

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is working with Heather Smallwood, Chartered Marketer and Fellow of CIM and based on the Isle of Man, and is looking to assess if the delivery of face to face CIM programmes would be viable for the Island. The programmes were previously set up and run by Heather at the former Isle of Man International Business School but ceased to run after 2011.

The provision of such programmes as the Professional Certificate in Marketing and the Professional Diploma in Marketing is subject to securing sufficient numbers to set up and run the centre and so expressions of interest are sought from people who would wish to study these programmes at a centre on the Island.

Heather commented: ‘It has never been more important for organisations to make sure they are getting the best return from their marketing investment. But this is also an ideal time for marketers to review their CIM studies because the CIM will be launching a new suite of qualifications next year with the existing ones being phased out over the next few years.

Therefore, should we be able to set up this study centre in early 2014 as planned, students will be able to complete on the current established syllabus or complete additional levels on a syllabus they may be familiar with. The other key benefit to being able to run these programmes on the Island is the great value that each of the groups gain from networking with each other and the continuing professional development offered by the local branch events run on the Isle of Man. Face to face study is often seen as having advantages for students also rather than the distance learning that is the only option to study CIM from the Island currently.

Any prospective students interested undertaking CIM professional studies are encouraged to register their interest by submitting an enquiry to Heather Smallwood via the website www.marketingpartnership.im.  The expression of interest does not constitute any contractual agreement and prospective students will be invited to formally apply should the centre be approved in the near future. In addition, an information event will be held at The Forum, Mount Havelock at 6pm on Wednesday December 4th, where enquirers and prospective students will have a chance to discuss their study needs further and meet like minded marketing professionals.
