by isleofman.com 25th November 2013

Panacea Pharma Projects has appointed Ashley McMahon as a Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV). Her duties as QPPV cover three main areas – to ensure the Marketing Authorisation holder (i.e. customer) has an appropriate pharmacovigilance system in place; to have an overview of a safety profile concerning the products for which the company holds a Marketing Authorisation; and to be the point of contact with the competent authorities of the EU.

Ashley has a BSc in Toxicology from Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland, and a post-graduate diploma in Pharmacovigilance from Hertfordshire University. She is currently undertaking additional eLearning training courses in best practice via The Research Quality Association. Ashley is also a member of the professional bodies PIPA (Pharmaceutical and Pharmacovigilance Association) and DIA (Drug Information Association) and has seven years’ experience in pharmacovigilance having worked in senior positions within the Contract Research Organisation (CRO) and pharmaceutical industries.

Commenting on her appointment, Ashley said:

“I am proud to have joined Panacea as a QPPV. Panacea prides itself on maintaining high standards and quality, which as a QPPV, is fantastic to see. I have settled in extremely quickly, which has been made so easy due the warm welcome I have received from my colleagues. I am thoroughly enjoying my start at Panacea and very excited to see what lies ahead in the coming months and I am looking forward to a long and happy career here.”

Ashley becomes Panacea’s second QPPV and will work alongside and under the guidance of Senior QPPV Sally Francis who commented:

“I am delighted to welcome Ashley McMahon and thrilled to have a new recruit and one who is so right for our team and clients. Ashley’s background and personality are perfectly suited to our company and she has a natural abundance of all the qualities that mirror Panacea’s values. Knowing that I have the back-up and support of such an enthusiastic, intelligent and professional peer, is invaluable. Ashley’s commencement with Panacea shows that we are in the midst of very exciting times with plenty of growth. I have no doubt that Ashley will relish and succeed in the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Dan McKay, Technical Director at Panacea, said that the company continues to grow and the appointment of a second QPPV adds significant strength to the business. He added:

“Ashley comes with a wealth of pharmacovigilance experience from a variety of roles in the pharmaceutical industry and we are very excited to bring her into an already experienced and talented team.”

Panacea Pharma Projects has been trading since 2009 and is the only Isle of Man-based company specialising in pharmacovigilance. The company is based at Peterson House, Middle River, Douglas.
