Public Accounts Committee to look at accommodation online booking system

by isleofman.com 23rd October 2013

The Public Accounts Committee has decided to investigate the introduction by the Department of Economic Development earlier this year of a new online booking system for visitor accommodation. The Committee heard oral evidence from the Department on this topic in public on 9th October 2013. A transcript of the oral evidence is in preparation and will be published on the Tynwald website.

The Committee now invites accommodation providers, and other members of the public with an interest in this matter, to submit evidence in writing of their experiences  together with any comments and opinions they would like the Committee to consider. Submissions should be sent to the Committee secretariat by Tuesday 26th November using the contact details provided below. E-mail is preferred but submissions in hard copy are equally acceptable.

The Public Accounts Committee has a remit to consider any financial matter relating to a Government Department or statutory body as may seem fit to the Committee; also to consider such matters as the Committee may think fit in order to scrutinise the efficiency and effectiveness of the implementation of Government policy.

The Members of the Committee for the purposes of this investigation are Mr Alfred Cannan MHK (Chairman), Mr Dudley Butt MLC, Mrs Brenda Cannell MHK and Mr Leonard Singer MHK. The Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Mr Geoff Corkish MLC, has declared an interest and is taking no part in this investigation.
