A business trip to the Island provided Viscount Slim OBE with an opportunity to visit the Legislative Buildings and enjoy a tour of the Tynwald Chambers hosted by the President of Tynwald Clare Christian.
Mrs Christian said: ‘I was pleased to welcome Viscount Slim and his business colleagues and was interested to hear his reminiscences about when he competed in the Round the Island powerboat race many years ago. He also mentioned his friendship with the current Duke of Atholl, one of whose ancestors, the 3rd Duke as Lord of Man, sold the dukedom’s regalities to the British Crown under the Act of Revestment in 1765.’
