Staff Wellness day at Standard Bank

by isleofman.com 21st October 2013

Recent BUPA research found that two out of five business owners never talk to their employees about their physical or mental health, despite the cost of stress in the workplace. Standard Bank has recognised the importance of healthy, happy staff and recently held a Wellness Day at their offices in the Isle of Man.

The AXA PPP DIY Health checker, which provides individual readout data on a host of wellness measures such as Body Mass Index and hydration level measurements was made available to staff and the day included a series of relevant talks and activities in the bank offices.

John Coyle, CEO Standard Bank IOM said to invest in the bank’s staff is not only good for the employees, but also for the bank itself, ‘It has been documented that the healthier and happier you are in your work, the less absence there will be and the more productive we will be as a business. The day was greeted enthusiastically by staff, and we hope that it will have provided further endorsement of the benefits of a healthier lifestyle as well as a healthier workplace.’

The day included:  tips on stress prevention and management and seminars and practical sessions related to good posture and ergonomics. There was also a talk on nutritional supplements and a presentation on the link between stress, spinal alignment, posture and health.
