Slight fall in unemployment in September

by isleofman.com 14th October 2013

The number of people out of work in the Isle of Man has fallen for the sixth month in a row.
Latest figures released by Treasury show a slight fall of six on the unemployment register in September, compared to the previous month.
The Island's jobless total now stands at 1022, with males representing more than two thirds of that figure.
A breakdown of the statistics shows a steady fall in unemployment in hotel, catering and bar work; and in the retail, sales and buyer sector.
There's also been a slight recovery jobs-wise in the construction and skilled engineering sectors in the three months to September.
But the number of people without a job in the teaching profession has risen, possibly as a result of the shake-up in pre-school education.
