Typhoon House breezes into third decade

by isleofman.com 7th October 2013

An Island firm is celebrating 20 years in business this year.
Typhoon House deals with printer sales, servicing and consumables from its office and warehouse on Hills Meadow in Douglas.

Geoff McCann set up the business, then called Caledonia Ltd, in Port St Mary as a local franchise of an organisation specialising in laser printer sales and recycled toner cartridges.

He and Debs Gwinnell then set up shop in Onchan and invested heavily in Customer Relationship Management systems for maintenance plans.
Two years ago, they rebranded the company as Typhoon House and moved into a purpose-built facility in Douglas.
Since then, they have employed both their youngest ever apprentice, 16 year old Ryan and oldest, Trevor, who saw his half century pass 'more than a few years ago'. These have joined a workforce boasting staff that have been there since the very start - who prefer to offer the printers they attend to some 'love' rather than servicing!
