Inflation down again in September

The annual rate of inflation on the Island fell again last month.
Latest Treasury figures show the September rate as measured by the retail prices index or RPI, dropped to 2.4% from an August figure of 2.6%.
Alcohol prices fell by more than 4% during the month but this was offset by an increase in the cost of clothing and footwear which rose by 4.3%.
The latest statistics also show a 3% price rise in leisure goods and a 1% increase in fuel and light costs last month.
Excluding housing costs the inflation rate year-on-year was also down, from 2.6% to 2.3%
Using the Consumer Prices Index, inflation held steady during September at 1.6%.
