On the 1st December last year Isle of Man Junior Achievement brought over a new teen vocal pop band called EverYoung that caused a sensation around the Island when the band visited local schools followed by a signing session in The Strand Shopping Centre. Everyoung who are signed to the EMI Record label are about to launch their first single this Sunday 6th October.
The band now have over 30,000 followers on Facebook but out of all the UK the band have selected the Isle of Man to personally launch their single. Coming over from Liverpool as part of their UK tour all the members of EverYoung will be in The Strand Shopping on Sunday from 2pm to meet fans and sign copies of their first single which they will then perform live on stage outside The Strand Shopping Centre. Copies of their single will be on sale at HMV from 11am on Sunday morning. The CD single will be on sale for ?2.99 and extra supplies are being sent over for the launch.
EverYoung are two boys (18 year old Eyal and Jack) and two girls (Cherelle and Hollie, both 19) who met at school and have spent the last two years performing at schools, clubs and theatres around the country and writing their debut album. With more than 150 school performances under their belts, 30,000 (and rising) Facebook likes and 6,500 Twitter followers, EverYoung are now releasing their new single ‘You Got Me’.
Co-written by the band, ‘You Got Me’ is an upbeat, feel good pop song - “it is one of the first songs we wrote together and is fun and catchy, full of harmonies which are a huge part of our sound” explains Cherelle. The band recently spent an eventful week in Spain filming the video as Eyal reports “We had the most amazing time bringing our song to life in the sunshine in the America desert and riding beautiful horses across the desert. Hollie had never ridden before so she was petrified and Jack ended up in hospital after having an allergic reaction to a sting but it was still incredible fun and one of the best things we’ve done together. And we all love the video!!”
Another highlight for the band was a headline theatre performance on the Isle of Man “we’d performed at two schools and a shopping centre and were then asked back to play our own show which was brilliant” recalls Jack. “When we left, hundreds of screaming girls were at the airport to wave us off … it was like something you see on the TV!”
Not only do the band write their songs, they choreograph their routines and always sing live “whether we are accompanied by a full band, a backing track or an acoustic guitar, singing live is so important to us. We are a live vocal harmony group and work really hard at nailing our harmonies” says Hollie.
Wherever and whenever EverYoung perform the reaction is amazing “We are pretty young and being a mixed band on the scene helps as we are yet to come across a group with two girls and two boys” explains Eyal.
Their first TV appearance was on Live with Fern Britton on Channel Five, and the group has already been interviewed on numerous local radio stations. “We are having such a great time and every experience is even better than the last.” adds Cherelle.
A local Manx Team has worked hard to be able to get EverYoung over for the signing and the stage to be put up for the performance John Shakespeare Centre Manager of The Strand Shopping Centre said “ The idea of doing the launch on the Island was only signed off last week so we have been battling against time but everyone has been very supportive and I would like to thank EMI Records, HMV, Peter Young from Event Solutions, Junior Achievement IOM, DDP, IOMSPCO, the Police and Courts. The last time Everyoung came into The Strand they were very popular and this time with the erection of the stage outside everyone will be able to join in and see the performance. It is also great that EMI and EverYoung have chosen the Isle of Man for the launch. As the event is only a few days away keep checking The Strand’s Facebook page to keep up to date with news as it changes. As we now have a stage we are now talking to a few other local bands about the possibility of playing before Everyoung.”
