It’s a well-used cliche that times are hard and lots of businesses are struggling. It’s particularly tough for local producers in the Isle of Man. They have a small captive market, high transport costs and are continually under threat from alternative products originating from all around the world. However, even in this climate, a number of firms have grown and been successful, producing quality products and creating opportunities for themselves.
We have a number of these local producers coming to speak to us about the challenges and opportunities they have been facing. These include Island Shellfish, Apple Orphanage and The Original Manx Fudge Factory. Shoprite will be joining the speakers to share their view of the market. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain some insight into their businesses and to learn about the environment in which they operate.
The event will be held at the Claremont Hotel on the 25th September at 18:00. It will be preceded by a short AGM for our members; non-members can use this time to network with other attendees and our presenters.
