Douglas Rugby Club holding registration day for juniors & minis

by isleofman.com 9th September 2013

Douglas Rugby Club Junior and Mini section will be holding a registration day and the first training session of the season at 14.00 on Sunday 15th September at the club’s Port-e-Chee ground on Peel Road.

The club runs coaching groups for all ages from tag (non-contact) at U7 age through to full contact 15-a-side games in the older age groups, up to U17 age.

All are welcome to come along and have go.

In addition to playing in Isle of Man tournaments, the club has entered three teams (U13s, U15s and U17s) in the Cheshire Cup. This gives the players great experience, touring with a team and playing against clubs from off-Island.

This year the club hopes to build on the first XV’s success last year; they were promoted the South Lancashire & Cheshire League One for the first time in the club’s history and are currently the highest placed league team in the Isle of Man. At the Junior level the club had a number of players who represented Cheshire at county level.

In addition to its success on the pitch, the club has started the upgrade of its facilities this summer with extensive building work to the clubhouse which will provide a new function room and kitchen facilities with two new changing rooms being added.
