Terence Patrick McDonald, of Advocates Carter Jones McDonald, has been awarded Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (FCIS) status by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) to recognise his commitment to the company secretary profession.
Mr McDonald was nominated for Fellowship by the ICSA Isle of Man Council through the Special Examinations Entry Scheme (SEES). The application was then submitted to the Admissions Committee for recommendation and passed to the United Kingdom Committee (UKC) for approval.
For over 20 years, Mr McDonald has volunteered his time to share his knowledge and expertise with many of the Chartered Secretaries on the Island.
ICSA Isle of Man Chairman, Gillian Prestwich, said: ‘Since the ICSA Isle of Man branch was established in the early 1980’s, over the years an initially small core has grown and flourished into a network of over 200 members working across the whole range of the Island’s broad economy.’
‘For many years Terence has provided invaluable insight and training, in particular with unique local knowledge, to many trainee Chartered Secretaries. This award rightly acknowledges the importance of Terence’s efforts and we are delighted to welcome him as a Fellow of the Institute. Chartered Secretaries in the Isle of Man are undoubtedly a key part of the Isle of Man’s ongoing success as an international business centre.’
Terence McDonald said: ‘I am honoured to be awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. In these days of increased focus on transparency and Corporate Social Responsibility, Chartered Secretaries have an increasingly important role to play in the good governance of organisations, and I look forward to a closer working relationship with the Institute on education and governance matters.’
