The generosity of the Isle of Man’s business community has been praised by one of the teams due to leave the Island later this week to compete in the Island Games in Bermuda.
The Isle of Man Gymnastics Association was commenting after Douglas-based chartered accountants Greystone LLC agreed to sponsor the cost of the gymnasts' kit to help with the high costs of sending a team to the Caribbean.
“It’s a very expensive trip, to an expensive part of the world,” said Janet Donnelly, honorary secretary of the Isle of Man Gymnastics Association. “On this occasion, fund raising to send a team the Island Games has been a difficult job, so this donation by Greystone is all the more important.
“The Isle of Man’s business community has recognised that it has been difficult to raise funds for the trip to Bermuda, and we are extremely grateful to Greystone and other businesses for their generosity. It will make a major difference to all the gymnasts bidding to bring back medals from the Island Games.”
The Isle of Man will have twelve gymnasts competing in?Bermuda, with six men and six women in the squad, together with managers and coaches.
Regular updates on the team’s progress will be featured on the IOMAGA website www.iomgymnastics.org and the Bermuda IOM Gymnastics Team Facebook page throughout the Games.
