Manx Advertiser appoints new Sales Manager

by isleofman.com 9th July 2013

The Manx Advertiser magazine, owned and operated by Bridson & Horrox Group, has appointed Sam Lewis as Sales Manager.

She has joined the magazine one year after its launch and as it begins a new, fortnightly circulation to every home and business on the Isle of Man. She will work alongside the company’s existing Sales Manager, Sam Noon, to drive sales revenue and help local businesses to promote themselves, their products and services to Manx residents.

Her arrival also marks the departure of Jeff Black who has completed his 12-month contract to launch and establish the Manx Advertiser in the Isle of Man’s printed media market. Having joined the company with a distinguished career working for regional newspapers and an excellent network of local contacts under his belt, Jeff leaves having built up a loyal client base and a trusted medium through which local companies can advertise.

Sam is a highly experienced sales individual, having held a number of managerial positions both on Island and in the UK within the media, banking and retail sectors. Most recently she was Sales Manager of Energy FM, with responsibility for managing a large portfolio of clients and driving all sales output across the radio station. She has previously worked for the company as Sales Executive.

Prior to joining Energy FM, Sam was Business Development Manager of Conister Bank, where she had responsibility for developing sales relationships with new and existing customers and intermediaries, and promoting the bank’s wide range of financial products. She has also worked for Mann Vend in the company’s sales team.

Her extensive retail experience was gained working within the fast moving consumer goods sector, in the Isle of Man for CI Newsagent, and in the UK for Sainsbury’s and Balfour News and Grocery Group. Having held management positions within the three companies, she had responsibility for all operational and sales output, as well as teams of up to 50 staff.

Tommy Crowe, Operations Director of Bridson & Horrox Group, commented: “As a career sales person, Sam Lewis is a natural choice to join Manx Advertiser and take the magazine forward as it moves in to its second year of operation in the Isle of Man. With such an in-depth understanding of the Island’s business market thanks to her strong relationships developed over the last 11 years working here, our clients can be assured they are in excellent and very knowledgeable hands.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff Black for the exceptional work he has done in establishing the Manx Advertiser on behalf of Bridson & Horrox Group and wish him the best with his future plans.”

Commenting on her appointment, Sam Lewis said: “I am delighted to be joining the Manx Advertiser at such an exciting time in its development, and to becoming part of such a forward-thinking and dynamic company as Bridson & Horrox Group. The Manx Advertiser offers Manx businesses a fantastic way to promote themselves to local consumers in an affordable and immediate manner, and I look forward to helping them in that journey.”
