John Garland joins Department of Economic Development

The Department of Economic Development has appointed John Garland to the role of Business Development Manager, Corporate Financial Services.

John has worked in the Island’s financial services sector for over 12 years including senior management roles at both HSBC Bank and Coutts & Co.

John established his own financial consultancy business back in 2010 and since then has sat on the board of two Isle of Man-based pension companies, worked in a business development role for a local Corporate Service Provider and established a strong network of international contacts.

John Spellman, Director of Financial Services, commented:

‘John Garland’s appointment reinforces the Department’s commitment in promoting our financial services sector, which represents a third of our economy. He will be supporting the private sector to pursue the opportunities arising from the development of new products and new international markets.’

John Garland commented:

‘I am delighted to accept this position and look forward to working closely with local industry to further develop the Island’s world class offering as an International Business Centre.’
