Manx Radio top of local radio listening poll

Seventy-two percent of radio listeners in the Isle of Man listen to Manx Radio more than any other local radio station. 

An independent research study in to local radio consumption, specifically gauging the perception of local radio stations and the value of Manx Radio as the Island’s national broadcaster, has also found that 85% of respondents feel Manx Radio offers an important service to the Isle of Man, with it being ranked as the most important local station for Manx residents and most highly rated in terms of news and sport content, its community programme, music choice and quality of presenters.

Further findings include:
• 95% of residents listen to local radio on a weekly basis; most listeners are loyal to one station
• 85% of residents believe Manx Radio provides the best news coverage, as well as providing the best sports coverage
• News, music and weather are the features most listened to on local radio
• Manx Radio is the preferred source for local radio news, and www.manxradio.com is the preferred local news website 
• 85% of residents believe Manx Radio offers an important service to the Isle of Man; 78% feel it is the Island’s most important radio station 
• More than 80% of residents believe Manx Radio is the most community-focused local radio station
• 60% of respondents feel Manx Radio’s special interest programming is vital
• More listeners prefer Manx Radio’s music choice and presenters, and use its Facebook page, compared to other local radio stations 

The independent report was produced by Manx company, Research Offshore. Data was collected over a one month period; a banner highlighting the link to the survey was promoted to Manx residents on Facebook, and a link was also placed on the Manx Radio website. Other local Manx radio stations were seen to promote the link to their listeners, and the survey was also advertised in Manx Tails magazine.

“The results of this research highlight just how vital a source Manx Radio is to the local community, especially so for local news and sport, weather and music content, and our presenters and staff remain dedicated to delivering the best service they possibly can to the community, whether that be through support of community initiatives or local businesses.”
