Five Standard Bank employees are flying from South Africa to take part in the IOM Parish Walk on June 22nd.
The Standard Bank team are all first time entrants to the 85 mile walk, and will be taking on the challenge to raise money for CHOC, a national organisation in South Africa that supports children with cancer.
John Coyle, CEO of Standard Bank Isle of Man, said: ‘We are pleased that our overseas colleagues are going to join us for this annual local event. It is testament to the strength of community within our worldwide banking teams that they are prepared to come all the way from South Africa to support our island event. It is also a fantastic way to raise sponsorship money that will benefit families who have to face the trauma of a child receiving treatment for cancer.’
Two of the five South African walkers are based in Cape Town, namely: Colin Townsend and Wendt Saurma-Jeltsch, while David Pike, David Veale and Ryan Kohler are from our Johannesburg office and they are taking on the famous Parish Walk course, visiting each of the island 17 parishes, including roads usually closed to the public. Colin Townsend said they are looking forward to the challenge with both excitement and fear: ‘It’s a great way for us to see the Isle of Man in its entirety as well as to benefit CHOC through our efforts. Standard Bank has also committed to matching the amount we raise through sponsorship commitments, so this is a truly worldwide effort from all of our colleagues at Standard Bank.’
