Alliance & Leicester International rebrands to Santander

by isleofman.com 8th May 2013

Alliance & Leicester International Limited (ALIL) yesterday, 7th May 2013, rebranded to Santander, a move which will allow the bank to offer customers on the Isle of Man a wider range of products and services over the months ahead, including Santander’s award winning 1|2|3 World products.

The Isle of Man branch has become an International Centre for Santander UK plc following a change in the bank’s legal entity from a wholly owned subsidiary of Santander UK plc to a branch with its asset and liabilities on its parent’s balance sheet.

It will remain an Isle of Man licensed bank and customers’ accounts will continue to be offered with gross interest and covered by the Isle of Man Depositors’ Compensation Scheme.

Staff at the newly branded Santander branch on Prospect Hill in Douglas will be celebrating the rebrand with customers by presenting the first six customers into the branch today with a bottle of champagne each, and customers throughout the day will be invited to enjoy a special branded cupcake.

A Santander branded taxi will also be providing complimentary rides to lucky residents on the island over the next 10 days to mark the occasion*.

Local and international customers can continue to manage and operate their account as normal at this time, and the only immediate change to customers’ terms and conditions will be that customers’ accounts will now be legally held with Santander UK plc.

Over the next 12 months, customers’ accounts will be moved from the current banking system onto the Santander system. Santander will write to all customers before their account is moved to explain any changes involved.

In addition, Santander will also be looking to introduce a new range of products to Isle of Man resident customers over this period, including its award winning 1|2|3 World products.

Commenting, John Pearson, Managing Director of Santander on the Isle of Man, said: “We are delighted to bring the Santander brand to the Isle of Man and we look forward to introducing the benefits of being part of this global banking brand to our customers over the months ahead. We are committed to serving the needs of our local and international customers, and customers will be able to benefit from a wider range of products and services as part of Santander UK.

“We’ll be celebrating the rebrand with staff and customers in our Douglas branch today, and some lucky local residents will also be able to take advantage of a complimentary taxi ride in a Santander branded taxi over the next 10 days.”

Customers who have any queries about the rebrand can contact Santander on 01624 641888.

* The taxi will have a daily budget available to provide free rides to residents over the 10 day period.
