United Nations Association hold AGM

by isleofman.com 7th May 2013
The Annual General Meeting of the United Nations Association of the Isle of Man recently took place at King Edward Bay Golf Club, with guest speaker Mrs Della Fletcher, Director of External Relations for the Isle of Man. The Association was fortunate to have Mrs Fletcher presenting on matters of external relations as she had originally been scheduled to be meeting with the Council of Europe in London that day. The Association was entertained on matters such as the Island's position and relationship with the European Union, how the Island seeks to present itself both locally within British Isles and globally around the World, and the struggles and opportunities that may present themselves to the Island in the coming years.

Retiring Chairman of the United Nations Association, former First Deemster William Cain congratulated Mrs Fletcher on a interesting and insightful presentation on the Island's global position, as did incoming Chairman Chris Thomas. The Association also welcomed Andrew Newton and Cynthia Maguire as new members of the Committee of Directors.
