Claire Collister, an associate at legal and fiduciary services firm, Appleby (Isle of Man) LLC, has been appointed as chairperson of the Isle of Man Young Lawyers’ Association (YLA).
The YLA has for numerous years represented the interests of trainee and newly qualified members of the Manx Bar. It provides its 40+ associate members, which includes trainees, newly qualified solicitors and paralegals, with support, advice, information and social networking opportunities, whilst also interacting with the Isle of Man Law Society.
Speaking on her achievement, Claire commented: “I am proud to have been appointed as Chairperson and would like to thank my peers for their support in electing me. As a recent trainee myself I fully appreciate the challenges facing young lawyers during the early stages of their career and I am pleased to be able to offer support and guidance based on my own experiences.”
She continued: “The YLA is the perfect forum for young lawyers to have their voices heard in a fun and social environment. We organise social and educational events including “lunch and learns”, buddy schemes for those taking their Manx Bar Exams, and forums for interaction between young lawyers. I would encourage all aspiring lawyers on the Island to get involved.”
