Standard Bank announces key appointments

Standard Bank has announced two key appointments within its Personal and Business Banking International (PBBI) division.

Karen Tiplady has been promoted to the position of Head of Operations while Matt Gorman has joined Standard Bank PBBI to take up the new role of Head of Planning and Change.

Ms Tiplady was previously a senior manager within Standard Bank’s Client Support team.  Mr Gorman joins to take responsibility for leading a change programme which will enable PBBI’s growth strategy.  

John Coyle, Chief Executive, Standard Bank Isle of Man, said: “The next few years are a pivotal time for PBBI as we seek to grow our business, and to ensure we succeed we must have highly capable senior leaders.  We are very pleased to be able to promote from within our firm a leader with Karen’s immense drive and energy, and we are looking forward to seeing her lead our Operations team to a new level of performance in 2013. Likewise, Matt has a terrific record across relationship management, sales and operations and is well positioned to make sure we generate a good return on our investment programme.

Ms Tiplady, who is based in the IOM, has a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services and over 25 years banking experience with the RBS Group, including 10 years offshore.  During her career she has worked in a variety of roles, including senior positions as Head of Payment Services in the Isle of Man and Head of Operations in Gibraltar. 

Mr Gorman, who will be based in Jersey, joins Standard Bank after a career spanning more than two decades within the banking industry. Prior to joining Standard Bank, Mr Gorman was Head of Business Services for Wealth Advisory Operations for Barclays Wealth Jersey and before that he had spent 20 years with the RBS Group in the UK.
