Nicola Guffogg will become the Isle of Man Government’s next Assessor of Income Tax when Malcolm Couch takes up his new role as Chief Financial Officer at the end of April.

Ms Guffogg has been Deputy Assessor in the Income Tax Division of Treasury for the last six years and has played a key role in the development of the Island’s tax regime and its international reputation.

Ms Guffogg said:

“I am delighted and honoured to be taking over as Assessor.  The Island’s tax regime and reputation have been essential to its economic success and I will endeavour to ensure that this continues.  It is a privilege to be asked to lead the Income Tax Division and I look forward to working with colleagues across Government and to building on the constructive and valued relationships I have with the private sector.”

Treasury Minister Eddie Teare, MHK, said:

“I welcome Nicola’s appointment. She is well known and respected both in the Isle of Man and internationally, and I am sure that she will be a success in this challenging new role. The position of Assessor is a vital one both in the Treasury and across Government, and I look forward to working more closely with Nicola as she takes it on.”
