Three members of the Training and Knowledge Management team at Barclays in the Isle of Man have celebrated a combined 100 years of service with the organisation by volunteering for 100 hours with local charities.

Jane Charlton, Andy Finch and Eileen Clarke enlisted the help of five other members of staff to help them reach their target while also raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

A number of volunteering initiatives were organised including:

• Painting the playground at Willaston Primary School
• Gardening, clearing the drama department costume cupboard and reading with children in the Special Needs Unit at Ballakermeen High School
• Helping out with the animals and gardening and The Children’s Centre Community Farm

The team also raised money through taking part in the 24 hour Relay for Life which raised over ?2000 for Cancer Research UK. In addition, a coffee morning and cake sale were held in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, in total ?1,338.31 was raised by the team with Barclays matching the total ?for?.

Eileen said: ‘We had great fun volunteering at the schools and community farm, it was lovely to be able to see the difference that can be made by giving up a few hours of your time to help a worthy cause. On behalf of Jane, Andy and myself I would like to thank all of those that have helped us either by volunteering or taking part in our fundraising initiatives.’

Managing Director of Barclays in the Isle of Man, Simon Scott said: ‘Reaching 100 years of service is a fantastic achievement for Jane, Eileen and Andy and what better way to celebrate this landmark than by making a difference in our local community.’
